Book Recommendation: A Parent's Guide to Attention Deficit Disorder

I highly recommend this book by Dr. Kwasman if you have a child with ADD/ADHD. This is the book I've been waiting for! Easy to read. Easy to understand. Good practical information and advice.

As a Speech Pathologist and a mother of a daughter with ADD, This is a book that I can recommend to parents and teachers as it provides excellent information in a clear and concise way. It includes information on the IEP process, the learning process, and symptoms associated with ADD. Dr. Kwasman is an advocate of the conservative and appropriate use of medication, and the illustrations and information on how it works are very helpful. I also appreciate his practical and down-to-earth advice for parents. For example, on dealing with the prejudice against using medication - "Tell your mother-in-law to back off", on what to do for children who don't qualify for Special Education but are below grade level - "parents should spend their own money to get these children the help they need and deserve" and on dealing with the school system - "You the parent are the most important advocate for the child. You know your child. Be assertive!"
