Skits Cooks - great game for speech practice!

My daughter was playing the Skits Cooks game on Martha Speaks at PBSkids.org today, and it would work great for language and articulation activities. There is following directions - moving mouse up and down, side to side etc. You can work on sequencing by retelling the steps for making pizza. Turn off the sound and use the pictures for visual cues at first, then after sufficient practice, do with no visual cues.

  1. Sift the flour - move mouse in a circle
  2. Blend in the yeast (to make dough rise) - move mouse from side to side
  3. Pour in some water (makes yeast dissolve) - move mouse up and down
  4. Mix it all together - move mouse from side to side
  5. Toss the dough (stretch out the dough) - move the mouse up and down
  6. Spread tomato sauce on top of pizza - move mouse in a circle
  7. Grate the cheese - move mouse up and down

Now you have to click on someone to make a pizza for them, and each character has 3 different items to go on their pizza.

Professor Monkey: birthday cake, banana and popscicle - great for practicing multisyllabic words. Each ingredient can be clicked 3 times. Have speech student imitate the word each time they click on it and hear it being said.

Nelson: fish, chicken, spaghetti for /sh/, /ch/ and /s/ blends and sequencing of three-syllable word.

Pops: dog bones, bacon, steak for /k/ and /g/

Jake: watermelon, animal crackers, apple - multisyllabic words

Skits: pickle, french fries, pancakes - /k/ or /R blends/

You have to go through all the steps for making the pizza for each character.

Have Fun!
