Teach Letter Formation While Working Out
Here's an idea I had for using the ABC Work Out as seen recently on Regis and Kelly to help children learn how to write alphabet letters using large motor movements while working out at the same time! If you stand facing your child/students when doing this, remember that you will be forming the letter backwards. I would try to do the letters in reverse so you are modelling them in the correct way, or if you have access to a large mirror, you could stand next to each other facing the mirror and the letters will be correct. I would also start at the top and go down and from left side to the right just like you want them to write it on paper. Try doing the lower case or cursive letters with your foot while holding on to the back of a chair - good leg exercise! I have been doing this exercise with my 5 year old over the Christmas vacation and I have actually lost weight rather than the usual gaining thing!
